Overpass Map Guide

Overpass is about layered map control: bathrooms, connector, short water, and monster. Teams win by denying information and attacking from multiple heights.

Map Profile

Tactical defaults, rotations, elevation changes

CT 53%

T 47%

CT Goal

Delay first contact, keep information alive, and retake as a group when a site is lost.

T Goal

Convert early map control into a split or execute instead of ending through one predictable choke.

Practice Focus

Learn a small reliable utility set, then add timing and trade patterns from the checklist below.

Core Callouts

A Bathrooms

Bathrooms decides A pressure. Control here lets Ts threaten long, short, and site while CTs lose early information.

  • Party
  • Fountain
  • Bathrooms
  • Divider
  • Long

Connector

Connector links both sites and creates flank timings. It is one of the most punishing areas to lose silently.

  • Connector
  • Stairs
  • Water
  • Lower
  • Short

B Water

Short water and monster form the core B attack lanes. CTs need utility and crossfires to stop a split.

  • Monster
  • Short
  • Water
  • Sandbags
  • Pillar

A Site

A retakes depend on truck, bank, and dumpster control. Plants can favor long or bathrooms depending on space.

  • Truck
  • Default
  • Bank
  • Dumpster
  • Optimist

CT Setups

Take Early Info Safely

Overpass CTs need information, but dry pushing fountain or connector feeds entries. Use flashes and escape routes.

  • Flash party for early info
  • Hold connector with support
  • Fall back from bathrooms after contact

Layer B Utility

B anchors must stop monster and short from arriving at once. Stagger smokes and molotovs so Ts cannot wait out everything together.

  • Smoke monster after first pressure
  • Molotov short water on split timing
  • Play pillar and graffiti crossfires

Retake As A Group

Both sites are retakable if CTs stay alive. Avoid desperate solo fights after a site is lost.

  • Save flashes for retake
  • Clear connector before defusing B
  • Fight bank and dumpster together on A

T Defaults

Default For Bathrooms And Connector

Good T sides make CTs uncomfortable in bathrooms and connector before showing the final site.

  • Molotov common party positions
  • Keep connector control or trap it
  • Use short water pressure to freeze B

Split B Correctly

Monster-only hits are easy to farm. Combine monster pressure with short water or connector timing.

  • Smoke heaven or bridge
  • Molotov barrels and graffiti
  • Trade around pillar before planting

End A With Space

A executes need bathroom or long control. Without it, Ts plant into a full CT retake.

  • Smoke bank and dumpster
  • Clear truck before plant
  • Leave a player watching long flank

Utility Priorities

Monster Smoke

The key B delay smoke for CTs and a common execute smoke for Ts when isolating site fights.

  • Do not throw it too early every round
  • Spam predictable push timings
  • Pair T-side monster hits with short control

Bank Smoke

Cuts one of the strongest A retake and rotate angles, making plants near default safer.

  • Use with dumpster smoke
  • Watch smoke pushes from bank
  • Plant for bathrooms or long control

Connector Flash

A flash into connector lets teams clear stairs and lower without taking isolated fights.

  • Call direction before throwing
  • Have a trade ready
  • Retake connector after early contact

Common Mistakes

  • Letting connector be lost without a call
  • Executing B through monster only
  • Dry fighting bathrooms after utility fades
  • Rotating through bank alone during A retakes

Practice Checklist

  • Drill connector clears and reclears
  • Practice B split timing from short and monster
  • Learn A bank and dumpster smokes
  • Review deaths caused by silent connector flanks
